They say photography
is the story that you fail to put into words. It is an art of observation, and
a true love affair with life! And this brings us to a fact that photography is
no longer a herculean task like how it used be a decade ago. All it takes now
is a gentle tap on your smartphone and there you go capturing moments and
freezing time, as many times as you want! Nishan
Kohli, an award-winning
photographer, adores this art and shares 10 interesting photography
facts to blow your mind off!
1. Clicking
a picture back in 1820s wasn’t as simple as ‘Say Cheese, Click ClickClick’. Cameras
back then took several hours to record a single film. Technology is miraculous!

effect is a real thing. Also called the group attractiveness effect, it is a
sort of cognitive bias which makes an individual more attractive when
photographed in a group.
3. The
astronauts who captured iconic images of Moon’s surface abandoned 12 Hasselbald
cameras on the Moon in order to carry 25kg of lunar rock samples back to Earth
in their place.
4. Left
side of our faces are more photogenic and exhibit a high intensity of emotions
than the right one. There you have the key to a perfect selfie!

long exposure times back in the day forced people to stay still for hours just
for a single shot. So now we know why we don’t see smiling faces in old photos!
8. Carry
a picture of a child in your wallet to save your money! Unbelievable, right? A
study by Scottish psychologist Richard Wiseman says that a majority of lost
wallets containing an infant’s picture were returned to the owner as compared
to those that had family photos or pictures of an elderly couple.
9. Windows
XP’s default wallpaper called “Bliss” is the most viewed photograph till date.
It was taken by American photographer Charles O’Rear in 1996 at Sonoma County,
California.
10. It
